Normcore?

2014 has been a year full of many memorable words and phrases. Some being pretty clever and others just down right annoying. Many started in later years and stuck in 2014. Just in case you forgot here is a little list I decided to put together in no specific order.

1.Yasss
2. On a Tuesday
3. About a week ago
4. I can't even
5. Fleek
6. P.O.P Hold it down
7. Basic
8. Sorry Not sorry
9. Obvi
10. Normcore

I'm sure these are words/phrases you're familiar with. One of the biggest on this list is Normcore. Never heard of it? Allow me to give you a brief overview. It's basically one huge misusage of a word intended for people taking on a new identity to fit in with different social groups. Basically those being able to adapt. It has been misused to describe a type of dull fashion where people intentionally dress "normal" with no sense of individuality. It's even been featured in Gap's "Dress Normal" campaign. You know it's pretty popular when it starts to get memes all over the internet.

 

Regardless of how this term came to popularity it has definitely been something searched and talked about and has stuck during 2014. I'm anxious to see what witty and unbearable words/phrases come about in 2015. Give your thoughts on the Normcore term and even some phrases you can think of that made a lasting impression in 2014.
